As the Peak's Educational Director, Melaine directly oversees The Peak News Academy's Citizen Journalist Training, Homeschool Enrichment Program (for which she is also an instructor), and Internship/Apprenticeship Program.   She is a Colorado Springs native who attended UCCS with a background in Biology.   As a mother and dedicated educator, she brings integrity, curiosity, and community-minded leadership to her work with students.

Melanie specializes in investigative and research-driven learning, helping students think critically, ask better questions, and pursue truth with courage and clarity.  A "boots on the ground" investigative journalist herself, she approach fits directly with the Academy’s mission of “raising up a new generation of ethical citizen journalists” who are empowered, equipped, and inspired to serve their communities.

Outside the classroom, Melanie is an avid reader who enjoys hiking, martial arts, and serving her community.

Her commitment to honesty, purpose, and lifelong learning helps shape the educational culture of The Peak News , which is core to everything we do.
